Abstract

Highly efficient method for the preparation of N-tert-butyl amides by reaction of nitriles with tertbutylacetate
is described using boron trifluoride etherate in solvent free condition. Selective amidation of
benzonitrile in the presence of acetonitrile was also achieved.
